This small backyard needed an upgrade as the homeowners prepared for a new child. Prioritizing a grassy play area, the design underwent several iterations to balance hardscape, softscape, and shaded areas, all while meeting strict HOA requirements. Thoughtful details optimized the compact space. To address the noisy highway and intense sun, the plan included a shade structure for comfort and a water feature for noise reduction. The design also inspired the choice of a new screen door, achieving the homeowners' vision of transforming the backyard into a seamless extension of their living room.
